Jackie Goldschneider is sitting down exclusively with The Reality Scoop to share details about her recovery and what she’s been up to since the Real Housewives of New Jersey ended. While viewers are unclear as to whether this “pause” is really a pause or not, Jackie is revealing who from the cast she’s still in touch with and who she thinks will return to #RHONJ (if it comes back).
In a separate statement, Jackie revealed that she could not imagine #RHONJ without Teresa. She exclusively shared with us: “I’m close with Jen Fessler and Teresa. I text with Dolores but haven’t seen her in a while. I haven’t spoken to Jen Aydin recently but we’re good as well.” Notably, Jackie omitted mention of Melissa, Margaret, and Rachel, who she ended the season on bad terms with. Jackie and Margaret’s friendship fell out after Jackie revealed that she wanted to make amends with other people in the group aside from her normal clique.
Jackie is opening up about her recovery journey, sharing a turning point for her: “I was eating so little and exercising so much. I couldn’t find my way out. My body started hurting so badly that one day I was on the floor in pain and I realized I couldn’t live like that anymore. I knew I wanted to recover publicly to help other people struggling. Being on the show made my recovery easier because I had so many people holding me accountable.”
Jackie revealed an upsetting fact when asked who was there for her from the show: “No one really, but that’s okay. It’s hard to help someone through something you understand.”
Despite this sad revelation, Jackie had her husband, Evan, by her side through it all. “I needed Evan and my family.”
Jackie updated us on where she is now in her recovery process, detailing significant progress since the release of her best-selling memoir “The Weight of Beautiful” available now: The Weight of Beautiful: Goldschneider, Jackie: 9781668023808: Amazon.com: Books
“I’m very far along but still have some disordered habits I need to tackle. It’s hard for me to let go sometimes and just eat whatever I want. I think I’ve gained 10-15 pounds but I don’t weigh myself anymore.”
She went on to share exclusive details from her book: “The depths I would go to hide my anorexia, bringing dry tuna to restaurants and eating in the bathroom or becoming infertile due to malnutrition. I hope people read my book and see how detrimental eating disorders can be and it pushes them to get the help they need.”
We encourage readers to check out Jackie’s heart-wrenching memoir, available now in stores and online.
When asked whether she’d return to #RHONJ: “I would come back if the cast changed. It’s too difficult to film when other cast members try to ice people out and keep people from filming together. Cast members shouldn’t be producing the show. We should be showing our real lives and relationships. I loved my first few years on the show, but recently it’s been too dark. If the cast changed, I think the show could be fun and amazing again.”
We thank Jackie for her openness and hope to see her back on our screens soon. Follow The Reality Scoop for more exclusive content coming soon.
